Anthony Kubelka is a pianist, educator, composer, and arranger originating from Ottawa, Ontario. He has been playing the piano for seventeen years, and has developed a focus towards jazz for the last ten years. He is a graduate of the Bachelor of Music Honours program at Carleton University (B.Mus 2020), and is currently completing his second year in the Master of Music (M.Mus) in Jazz Performance program at the University of Toronto. Over the years, he has participated and performed with numerous ensembles at various venues in the Ottawa and Toronto areas, playing with groups in a variety of genres (jazz, funk, blues, big band). Over the course of his performing and educational career, he has also developed a keen interest in jazz performance, improvisation, composition, and arranging. He loves jazz’s free form and improvisational nature, and is in his element when sitting with friends and fellow musicians and experimenting with music.
Jennie Seaborn is an Ottawa-based drummer who is proudly endorsed by Istanbul Mehmet cymbals. She completed her Bachelor of Music degree at Carleton University where she earned the Music Award, a Senate Medal in Music, and the Vera Klein Scholarship in Music. Currently, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree with a specialization in Music at the University of Ottawa. In addition to teaching, Jennie enjoys recording and composing.
This show will be the first occasion where these two contemporaries will perform as a duo. Interesting things will happen!
