Mike Rud Trio
Mike Rud – guitar
Peter Hum – piano
Alec Walkington – bass
Soulful, swinging and Juno-winning guitarist Mike Rud makes an overdue return to Ottawa, where he lived in the early 2000s. The music instructor at Selkirk College in Nelson, B.C. has played with some of the greatest musicians in jazz, including guitarists Peter Bernstein and Herb Ellis, trumpeter Kenny Wheeler and organist Joey DeFrancesco. Mike won a Juno Award in 2014 for his critically acclaimed album Notes on Montreal, his musical love letter to the city where he lived before moving to B.C. Mike will be joined at Montgomery Scotch Lounge by two of his long-time friends — Montreal bassist Alec Walkington, who will be making his debut at the lounge, and Ottawa pianist Peter Hum, a mainstay of the jazz scene in Canada’s capital.
