Kevin Goss/Peter Turner Quartet
For this rare Ottawa appearance, Toronto saxophonist Kevin Goss will team up with Ottawa trombonist Peter Turner along with a local rhythm section consisting of pianist Peter Hum and Keith Hartshorn-Walton on upright bass. This performance will feature jazz numbers suited for sax/trombone harmonizing – as well as standard and original bebop tunes. Kevin is proficient on every size of saxophone from soprano to bass. He never brings fewer than three saxes to any gig, so expect a variety of sounds at this one-time Montgomery Scotch Lounge performance. Kevin Goss is a graduate of the St. Francis-Xavier University’s jazz program, and has been active as an educator and performer in Toronto for more than 30 years. His first CD as leader – entitled “Gratitude” – was released in 2020, and a second recording is in the works. He is particularly strong on baritone sax, and is a devotee of Pepper Adams and Gerry Mulligan.
