Miguel de Armas Trio
Renowned as a maestro of Afro-jazz, Miguel de Armas introduced his music to the Ottawa scene in 2012, blending the rhythmic tapestry of African polyrhythms with the intricate allure of American jazz, blues, roots, and global melodies.
Since then, Miguel de Armas has been an integral part of Ottawa’s musical landscape, spearheading a Latin Jazz Quartet that pulses with vibrant rhythms and captivating harmonies. Through their performances and collaborative ventures with local talents, either his trio or his quartet has woven a distinct and enchanting sonic tapestry within Ottawa’s music scene, elevating the appreciation for Cuban musical heritage while nurturing the tradition of Cuban-Canadian musical fusion.
Miguel’s vision is to perpetuate this legacy by continually pushing boundaries, crafting fresh arrangements, and exploring new compositions, both his creations and those of fellow composers. The quartet’s performances exemplify a blend of mastery and collaboration, characterized by articulate, impassioned, and seamlessly synchronized playing.
